ABOUT Earth Ways Yoga
Earth Ways Yoga is a unique system of yoga that braids yoga asana, the Nature Ways, and Chinese 5-Element Acupuncture tradition. The inclusion of the Natural World in this practice offers you the chance to bring all aspects of yourself into deeper balance. In this practice, you cultivate balance through an authentic alignment between your physical, emotional, and energetic parts through relationship with the cycles of the Natural World.
Everything in Nature lives in cooperation with one another. When we as humans don’t have internal cooperation, inner struggle occurs. This system of yoga teaches how to connect with the natural world in a deeper way, on and off the mat, so that when you experience that inner struggle, you are able to return to more peacefulness inside and with others.
Through the rich Five Element Acupuncture tradition, we work with the meridian channels and acupuncture points within the body. By weaving the aliveness of these channels into Earth Ways as an asana practice, you are able to access the deepest energetic centers in your body for clearing and rebalancing. From here, you can better hold and nurture your physical body, so energetic alignment can emerge.
This slow-moving, yet powerful style of yoga invites focused attention to the touch, sound, and vision of your breath as a gateway to building a deeper relationship with yourself and the natural systems that work within you.
MEET KATE MULHERON
Over the last twenty five years, Kate has practiced many styles of yoga as a vehicle to support her healing and evolution. Her great love of yoga has significantly impacted her practice, life, and spirit and has taught her a greater understanding of the healing power of breath and movement within the physical, emotional, and energetic layers of the human body.
She completed her Hot Yoga Teacher Training in December of 2008. She then went on to train with Ana Forrest in October of 2009, which was one of the most pivotal experiences of her life. Ana showed her how to work with energy to help the body realign, and in that, Kate felt one of her authentic gifts begin to emerge
On her journey, Kate knew she hd to break out of her detrimental patterns and choose a new way that would allow her to be authentic and to use her true gifts and talents. During this time she met her spiritual teacher, Trudy Welty. Trudy is known as a wisdom holder from her tradition, where she learned (and now shares) how to live and work with Nature in a sacred way. Trudy awakened Kate to the knowing that she is a Sensitive, and how Mother Nature and her energies could help her live more cohesively in the world. She continues her studies with Miss Trudy to this day.
As Kate continued teaching and evolving in her healing ways, how she taught yoga shifted, and through her healing evolution, she was guided and then inspired to create a yoga style that worked with the elements of Nature. She began creating a style with the support of Kelly Kessen, a teacher of Five Elements Acupuncture, and Earth Ways Yoga began. She invited Miss Trudy Welty to share a depth of relating between the natural world and humans — hence, learning to walk in balance on the earth and honoring all relationships. Earth Ways Yoga builds the bridge between Mother Nature and the human experience through yoga, meditation and ritual. Kate is honored to offer these teachings that only embodied experience can invoke.
Kate has a flourishing virtual private practice based on the Western Slope of Colorado, and offers live workshops across the country. The Joyful Journey Hot Springs Spa (Salida) and the Wild Cooperative (Crawford) are regular and beloved retreat hosts, where she leads live events in Colorado, as well as other retreats in California and around the country. Kate is available to travel to lead workshops or retreats around the country by request. Email her to inquire!
